Life Care Center of Stoneham recently kicked off a new pulmonary program for its patients.

Dr. Maher Tabba has joined the team at the skilled nursing and rehab center to oversee the program, Breathe Easy. Tabba is a board certified pulmonologist and critical care specialist at Tufts Hospital in Boston with expertise in advanced care of tracheal diseases, COPD, interstitial lung diseases and lung cancer. He has been practicing for more than 15 years in major academic centers.

Tabba will work closely with the facility’s respiratory therapy team and with attending physicians.

Breathe Easy involves education for patients and their families, as well as:

  • BiPAP
  • CPAP
  • COPD treatment
  • Pulmonary infections treatment
  • Tracheostomy care decannulation protocol
  • High flo O2
  • Piped-in oxygen vacuum
  • Pulmonary rehab

“The addition of Dr. Tabba to our pulmonary team enhances our ability to take care of patients in the skilled nursing setting that otherwise would have to remain in the hospital,” said Jeff Ekberg, executive director.
